Description: To the Victorians, swallows were the messengers of love; carrying notes of love and affection back and forth between lovers. This finely made silver (835) brooch was hand crafted and still retains its wonderful original patina. It has a nice fluid look that is both classic and contemporary. The uneven surface of the brooch makes this especially eye catching. The back of this brooch is as beautifully made as the front. Note that the pin is curved so that it follows the design of the brooch.
There is a tiny cabochon garnet in the eye. Brooch is German in origin; hallmarks on the clasp.
