Description: The Victorians loved nature and this admiration was reflected in the jewelry they wore. These three antique garnet pins (antique garnet brooches) are encrusted with garnets. Two of the brooches have seed pearl eyes. The setting is a low karat rose gold, often called garnet gold. Butterflies symbolized the soul and it was believed that the soul was the place where love originated. Therefore butterfly shaped jewelry was often a gift of love. The bee symbolized the heart stung by love! To see other images of these items, please click here: photo1 and photo2 and a photo of the back
