Description: A cameo of Hermes is quite difficult to find and this carving is especially nice.  It depicts Hermes with his symbols, a winged hat and a caduceus (a staff, now used as the symbol of the medical profession).   Great detail and it is set in a lovely 15kt. rose gold frame.

Have you seen Michele Rowan's new book on Cameos? It is a must have for any collector of antique cameos!  In it she writes that Hermes was "the son of Zeus, he had the gift of prophecy and was protector of mortal heroes."   I hope Hermes is protecting our mortal heroes of today!
