Description: Finely carved Victorian portrait miniature shell cameo depicting a young Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861). This cameo is based on a portrait in the Gilbert Collection (Somerset House, London). The setting is 18kt. yellow gold. Among her most famous works was the love poem, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace." (Sonnets from the Portuguese).
