Description: The French call this a "Saint Esprit"
cross, which figuratively means, "holy dove". It symbolizes God's
spirit presenting itself to mankind in the form of a dove.
This beloved religious symbol is especially popular in the
Normandy region of France. This pendant is sterling silver
(French silver mark on the back) and is adorned with diamond
paste.
What is paste? Paste is cut glass that has been
faceted to resemble diamonds or other precious stones.
Jewelry historians credit the 18th century French jeweler
Georges Frederic Stras for perfecting the art of cutting paste
jewels. For this reason, paste is oftentimes called
"strass"; especially by European collectors.
