Description: Rare Victorian 18kt. yellow gold gimmel ring with hands clasped together over a pair of entwined hearts. Often used as an engagement or wedding ring, a gimmel ring consists of two or more ring bands joined together by a pivot.
The rings slide together to form one ring symbolizing the linking of the lives of two people.
Gimmel rings (also known as Claddagh Rings) are generally thought of as Irish but there is evidence that this style of ring was used as early as 5000 AD.
