Description: Georgian mourning pendant of the finest quality. This French work of art is set in an 18kt. gold frame. Rich in symbolism, this pendant commemorates the death of a husband and wife. On the front, are two doves (symbolizing eternal love) sitting upon a plinth, above them is a crown symbolizing marriage. The doves are sitting inside an elaborate mausoleum, made from gold wire, enamel, fine pearls and blue glass (the columns). The bluish/white background is opalene glass; behind which is foil etched with an elaborate design. The design in the foil creates a radiating light effect around the crown. (see close up photo below).
At the base of the mausoleum is finely chopped hair. The trim design around the rim of the pendant is reverse painting on glass; cobalt blue and gold. On the back of the pendant are entwined rose gold initials atop woven hair.
