Condition: wear to enamel; a small dent on the underside of the ring. Sepia miniature is very crisp and clear; crystal covering it appears to be original
Year: 1760-80
Description: Unique sepia mourning miniature
depicting an angel leaning on a tomb (note that angel is
partially bare breasted). This 18kt. yellow gold ring
commemorates the death of a husband and wife and is composed of
hair and paint on ivory. The wording on the front says,
"Alice Steriker ob 24 Sept 1750 ae 31. The shank of
the ring commemorates the loss of "Robt Steriker ob 20
June 1781 ae 68." On the underside of the ring is the
incredibly touching inscription, "I love my friend unto the
end H I A".
