Description: Rare Georgian mourning ring with a very touching inscription on the back, "I love my love, next God above." . The sepia picture depicts a woman leaning against an anchor; obviously waiting for her beloved to return from the sea. The anchor also symbolizes faith. Sadly, as we can see from the enamel script, her beloved did not return. The sepia mourning picture is comprised of hair applied to ivory. The enamel around the top of the ring states, "Wm Page ob 13 Feb 1786 ae 47".
