Description: This hair art picture not only has excellent quality hair work but is rich in symbolism.  Please look at the detail in this close up photo: 3401.jpg  Note the Chalice to the left of the cross and smaller cross to the right of it.  The crown of thorns is also depicted on the cross.  The words going around it in French say, "For the Christian, the cross is our comfort (consolation).  In Remembrance of my good father, 29 June 1869".  The hair work is on glass.  The wooden ebony frame and highly curved glass covering the picture are both original.
