Description: The quality of hair work on this picture is as fine as you would find in a piece of memorial jewelry. The hair work is on ivory and written in French on the tomb is the most touching epitaph: "Remembrance of the Best of Mothers". (Souvenir de la meillieure des meres). Please take time to look at the close up photos so that you can see how fine the artistry is in this piece. Please note these details:
a) on the ground in front of the tomb, the artist created a shadow (in hair work) which comes from the tree weeping over the tomb.
b) the beauty of the sky which has been painted by the artist to depict clouds interspersed in a blue sky. This aspect really sets off the hair work. To view other images, please click here: 6004.jpg
