Item: Wonderful hairwork brooch

Condition: excellent; may have been some repair to clasp but if so, it is good and virtually unnoticeable. 

Year: 1820-40

Description:  This 18kt. gold brooch has hairwork on ivory.  What a wonderful scene! I suspect this is a sentimental brooch and not memorial.  The quality of the workmanship is excellent.  Note cupid's quiver and arrows on the side and the two doves touching.  There is steam arising from the arrows which have landed in the initials.  Just a great piece!  to see the back: 4435a.jpg
