Item:  "He sleeps in Jesus" enamel and hairwork ring

Year: dated 1868

Description:  I have never seen an enamel ring with this "saying".  The lovely gray pearls are said to have symbolized loss of a gentleman whereas the white pearls were used for children and unwed ladies.  Inside it is inscribed, "EA Gason 16 March 1868". 4826a1.jpg
