Item:  Wonderful sepia ring with Unusual motif

Year: dated 1789

Description:  This ring has an unusual sepia motif which is very crisp.  The hairwork painting is on ivory.  A cherub is holding a crown over the tomb as a woman grieves.  The ring is set in a 9kt. rose gold frame and is inscribed, "EW obt 1 Jan 1789 at 30"  Here is a view of the back of the ring:  4918a.jpg  Note that the shank has been sized a long time ago.  You can see where this was done but it is not damage!
