Description:  This pearl collar or choker is simply wonderful!  The red enamel surrounds wonderful sepia on ivory picture and makes this piece so striking.  The red enamel sets off both the sepia work and the pearls.  What touching symbolism also....the lady is opening the bird cage and releasing her lost love.  During the late 1700's,  loss and mourning was often depicted by the release of a bird from a cage.  I have never seen sepia work with red enamel.   This is a rare piece that is also very wearable.  To see other views, please click here: 5290.jpg and 5290b.jpg
