Description:  This brooch has many of the classic symbols used in Georgian memorial pieces.  The shepardess with her flock at her feet is writing the name of the "lost one" on the tree.  The shepardess depicts God who is writing the name of the deceased on the tree of life.  The staff of life is in the shepardess' (God) hand.   The Georgians and Victorians saw death as a very real part of life and they often wore images to remind them of the brevity of a human's time on earth.  The image on this 9kt. rose gold brooch is very crisp and clear.
